The Ciociaro Club is hosting a blood drive Saturday in memory of Andrew Gatto, who died of cancer at the age of 15 in 2018.

Andrew was diagnosed with alveolar rhabdomyosarcoma (ARMS) in February 2014 and fought the disease for the next four years.

He suffered two relapses and each time he had to have many blood and platelet transfusions.

His obituary says Andrew was the son of Chris and Sara and brother to Isabella and Chloe. He was a young man of great faith, the obituary reads and faced every challenge with a positive and courageous attitude.

He attended Grade 10 Holy Names Catholic High School. Andrew had a great love for his family and friends and always worried about others more than himself.

Andrew’s family say it’s best to book ahead of time for a transfusion as spots tend to fill up.

The blood clinic will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Ciociaro Club at 3745 North Talbot Rd.

Spots can be booked at blood.ca or by calling 18882DONATE (1-888-236-6283).
