Crikey’s Electioncast is back! Every Friday throughout the 2025 federal election campaign, politics editor Bernard Keane, readers editor Crystal Andrews and a cast of Crikey journalists will unpack the policy promises, spill gossip from the campaign trail, and address one of the key questions of this election: is the major party duopoly dead?

In today’s episode, Labor and the Coalition agree with voters: this is the housing election. But despite making headline-grabbing housing policy a focus of their official campaign launches, both parties’ plans have been critcised by… pretty much everyone. We unpack the policy promises, and ask why politicians refuse to address the real problem at the heart of Australia’s housing crisis.

Then, editor-in-chief Sophie Black gives the inside story of our Crikey for PM series alongside campaign manager Charlie Lewis. And will women, once again, hold the deciding vote on election day?
