The three-part docuseries The Diamond Heist is set to premiere on Netflix this April.

Netflix is ramping up the excitement with their new heart-pounding series, The Diamond Heist, set to drop this April as fans have just got a peek at the gripping first trailer.

This three-part docuseries will delve right into an ambitious attempted theft of the iconic £350 million Millennium Star Diamond from the Millennium Dome back in 2000.

Telling the tale from both sides of the law, the series offers perspectives from the South East London crew that planned the daring raid alongside insights from members of what became the biggest operation in the history of the Flying Squadthe squad that spoiled the criminals’ plans.

In the thrilling trailer, convicted robber Lee Wenham and his troupe of notorious crooks candidly share their story about the infamous crime. Visions of Lee reflecting on the Millennium Dome’s opening in the year 2000 now famous as The O2 Arena which was home to some of the globe’s most valuable diamonds, can be glimpsed.

He then outlines his dream for one last, monumental score: cracking the vault, pulling off the escape, and hoping to commit what he envisaged as the slickest heist imaginable, reports Surrey Live.

In the first look released, Lee reveals in front of the camera: “In July 2000, we had a team and the target with the Millennium Star.

“I don’t know anything about diamonds, but I think it was a bit of a piss take putting it where it was – the exciting thing was the diamond.”

Concluding with grand ambition, he expresses: “I decided to myself it was going to be my last job. We needed to figure out how to get inside the vault, get the diamond and get away – if we could pull it off, it would be the biggest heist of all time.”

The trailer also offers a glimpse into the workings of the Flying Squad, who were biding their time for Lee and his crew to make a mistake.

The series is backed by executive producer Guy Ritchie and hails from the acclaimed production company Lightbox Media. According to its synopsis, it’s set to be a ‘true’ crime caper.

The synopsis discloses: “It’s summer 2000. A group of South-East London criminals are orchestrating what just might be the most audacious heist of all time.

“Their plan: use a bulldozer to ram-raid the brand new Millennium Dome in broad daylight, steal the world’s second biggest flawless diamond in a haul worth £350 million, and escape by speedboat down the Thames. There’s just one tiny problem: the Flying Squad are watching.”

The narrative unfolds from the viewpoint of the South East London criminals who attempted the daring raid, as well as the members of the largest Flying Squad operation in history, who foiled their plans.

The Diamond Heist will be coming to Netflix on 16th April.
